Jaakko “Jaska” Granström CE-F
Jaska has been shoeing horses since 1974. His competition career began in the 90’s in Finland and has continued internationally. Jaska won the Finnish Open Championships in 1995
Jaska been working almost twenty years as the remedial clinic farrier at Helsinki University equine hospital, and Hyvinkää equine hospital. He has also been giving lectures and regular training sessions to both farriers and veterinarians, in Finland and internationally. In 2011, Jaska was one of the authors of the book “Hevosen Kengitys”.
Riina Villanen CE-F
Riina works mostly in Kirkkonummi and the surrounding areas, as well as being found on Thursday’s at the Hyvinkää equine hopistal assisting Jaska. Riina started her shoeing career in 2004. Her passion for competing started in 2010, after which have been multiple wins and placements in Finland and internationally. Riina won the Finnish Open Championships in 2015 and 2016.
Riina has a large amount of experience shoeing internationally. She has been working and shoeing horses in Norway, England, Turkey and India. In England, where shoeing is limited to licensed individuals and supervised by the animal protection authorities, Riina has been accepted into the farrier licensed register in the year 2017.
Riina has been training several apprentices and students preparing for the Finnish certification exam, and has even been teaching at the local farrier schools in India. Riina is offering training to both farrier and veterinary students.
Caroline Kempf CE-F
Caroline is shoeing widely across the capital area, and also helps Jaska at the clinics in Viikki and Hyvinkää. Caroline also regularly goes to Singapore, where she has been shoeing at the racetrack and polo club.
Caroline’s main inspiration behind shoeing is the ability to help horses to live as long and healthily as they can. Every single horse receives the same tireless dedication and consideration. Self-development, research and skill improvement are therefore very important to Caroline. Caroline works actively in the Finnish Farrier Association (Suomen Kengityssepät Ry), and is a deputy member of the board.
Caroline has patented therapeutic 3D printed horseshoes and innovative pads, as well as producing the “PMD” (Pony-Mini-Donkey) glue-on range for small hooves, for which there have not previously been anything on the market previously.
